Supporting a local transportation company, the Heavy Duty Mechanic will diagnose and repair diesel and Class A vehicles, focusing on engines, hydraulics, and transmissions.
This role is Monday-Friday during normal business hours. There may be potential for a part-time option. Saturdays are optional and availability will be dependent upon business needs.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose, inspect, service, and perform maintenance on heavy-duty trucks.
- Perform preventative maintenance, inspecting for road-worthiness and safety issues.
- Road test vehicles for diagnostics.
- Work with diesel engines, hydraulic equipment, etc.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose issues related to turbos, injectors, and radiators.
- Research and order parts with appropriate approvals.
- Perform maintenance on trailers, as needed.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Report damages or faulty equipment to management.
- Additional tasks as needed.
Qualifications
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 2+ years' experience working with heavy duty vehicles is required.
- A Commercial Inspection license is required.
- Cummins knowledge and welding experience is preferred.
- A clean driving record with no more than 3 Motor Vehicle Record infractions within the last 3 years.
- Maintain excellent communication skills & be able to work independently.
- Ability to work overtime if required.
